John Alexander Rowley

Starting in 2009 as a side-project to help advance website development skills (at the beginning of my industrial placement) JohnAlexanderRowley.com was built from an existing premium Content Management System (CMS). The heavily modified template was almost entirely re-designed, with several iterations taking place over the website’s lifespan.

A number of skills have been demonstrated during the ongoing project, including;

  • Use of the CPanel and Domain administration
  • Database design and development (including MyPHPAdmin)
  • HTML and CSS skills, as well as PHP and SQL
  • Modification of corporate styled CMS WordPress templates
  • Website Analytics, Search Engine Optimization and Affiliate Marketing
  • Advanced Social Media integration (Automation, Marketing, etc).

With blog articles being published on average 6 times per month, and now over 120 articles being available to read, the website achieves a healthy number of unique visitors per month from a variety of locations, tracked via Google Analytics.

The fast-paced atributes of computing and the internet means JohnAlexanderRowley.com is constantly undergoing maintenance and updates. The ‘featured’ bar (found on the homepage) was introduced in late 2010 with the introduction of the most recent WordPress theme, and is now a well-established characteristic of the project. Featured banners contain the most prominent details of the website, and it is forseen and proven (analytically) that this attracts the attention of visitors.

As the website continues to develop, the attitude and dynamics of JohnAlexanderRowley.com shift to suit [my] needs and requirements; Giving an overview of projects and an insight into personal life paralleled with the blog articles.
