Fisher Scientific UK Ltd – Industrial Placement

Assistant Website Developer, Marketing Team

Applied and developed a range of skills during a year-long industrial placement within the marketing department at Fisher Scientific. As a website developer there was a strong emphasis on website prototyping, promotional material design and search engine optimisation (SEO). Worked within a small team to complete scheduled daily maintenance tasks as well as interacting with departmental managers to embark on larger assignments including technical support developments and site-wide redesigns.

Additionally involved in side projects such as social media and rich media adoption.Contributed to Fisher Scientific’s annual event (‘Science World 2010’ – Wembley Stadium) by designing and implementing a microsite followed by assisting at the event. Communicating with industry experts regarding the website required a professional, knowledgeable and sociable approach at all times.

GameCity5 & GameCity Nights

Volunteer Steward

GameCity Nights VolunteeringVolunteer work as an official steward during the annual GameCity5 festival included attracting and interacting with audiences as well as providing consumers with specific, concise and appropriate information. Responsibilities included punctual attendance to daily team meetings and quick thinking on an individual basis to promptly solve a variety of technical and practical problems.

 

E.ON Engineering Kingsnorth & Ironbridge PowerStations

Assistant Inspection Manager (Non-Destructive Testing)

Worked during major unit outages as part of the Non-Destructive Team (NDT). Work included assessing, reporting and prioritising workloads as well as communicating and managing various schedules with a variety of personnel in hazardous conditions. Various mandatory exams were completed before access to site was permitted including a 3 day safety course and Confined Space exercises. Relied upon to be thorough, responsible and work as part of a team to meet deadlines under strenuous conditions as well as prompt and professional behaviour on and around site.
