Just a quick post (I know Iv’e been lacking lately!) to say that GameCity5, the annual festival to celebrate all things video-game orientated is coming to Nottingham between 26th and 30th October this year.

As always, there will be a huge tent in market square which this year hosts an interactive gym as well as a lounge area where you can meet industry professionals and get some cool free stuff too!

I’ll be in the Lounge area between 12.00 and 17.00 on Wednesday and Saturday, so come say hi! I’ll be asking lots of people about their opinions on a GameCity application, so please drop by and let me know your thoughts! I’ll also be in Tonic, one of Nottingham’s top-notch resteraunts/bars at the same times on Friday, so why not grab a bite to eat and see some of the brilliant events on offer!

As a final note, there will be a game character out and about in Nottingham between the dates mentioned! If you manage to photograph him and upload it to your favourite site you could win some fantastic prizes!

See you there!

The best game on the iPhone I think is ‘Orbital’.

It’s a brick-breaker styled game, shooting from the bottom of the screen like in bejewelled. The graphics are great, not to mention the simplistic yet addictive game play which makes for a unique experience.

It’s all about shooting circles and watching them grow as you blast other circles at them, consequently blowing them up! Each circle that explodes is a point. My highest score is (currently) 34 although I’m intending on improving it this Friday on the train down to London.

You can try it out at http://www.orbital-game.com/ but for £0.59 you can play it for hours on the iPhone, and it looks and feels even more amazing!

Assassins Creed 2 vs. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2!

Its a clash of the titans – Two of the biggest Game developers both releasing highly anticipated games within one week of each other: Assassins Creed 2 (Developed by Ubisoft) is released exactly 7 days after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Developed by Activision).

Despite the close release dates Ubisoft aren’t worried by the success of CoD:MW2, stating that they sold over 9 Million copies of the original Assassins Creed, which was released only 14 days after the original Modern Warfare.

The two games differ in many ways: AC2 is a third person action/adventure game, while CoD:MW2 is a first person shooter. I would hate to have to make a choice on which is the better of the two. Saying that, if I was forced to make a choice I would say that AC has the edge over CoD for its originality and storyline! I would argue it has slightly better graphics and physic engine too. The first AC had me on the edge of my seat – battling countless guards in order to try and find out the next instalment of the story.

CoD has a huge following, and I’m sure it will do better in the shops. It will probably have a stronger longevity too based upon its online play.

Basically they are two great games, and both worth buying and playing! The difference is that Assassins Creed 2 is a Novel; one which you should sit and delve into over a weekend (completely loose yourself in the character and story) where as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a magazine; Pick up and flick through when you have a spare hour or two and want to see some heads explode through a sniper-mounted sight!
